Street artist Banksy recently revealed a new mural in London, featuring a rhinoceros scaling a car. This mural is part of an animal-themed series, which includes various creatures like elephants, goats, wolves, and pelicans.
The rhinoceros artwork, located in Charlton, southeast London, appears to show the animal mounting a broken-down car parked in front of a building.
Banksy has been sharing these pieces daily on his Instagram account since last Monday. Among the recent additions is a fish tank-themed artwork showcasing piranhas. This piece popped up on a police box near the Central Criminal Court, often called the Old Bailey.
A small crowd gathered to snap photos and selfies by the mural as workers put up barriers for its protection.
Other standout pieces from this series include pelicans on the side of a fish shop in Walthamstow, East London, and a howling wolf silhouette that adorned a satellite dish on a garage roof in South London.
Interestingly, the wolf artwork was removed the same day it appeared, with men spotted carrying away the satellite dish. Who took it or why remains unknown.
Banksy, who started his career with graffiti in Bristol, England, is now one of the most famous artists in the world. His works have fetched millions at auction, and outdoor murals often vanish or get stolen shortly after they are completed.
The City of London Corporation is looking into ways to preserve these recent artworks to prevent them from disappearing.
Banksy’s anonymity and the mystery surrounding his identity add to the allure of his installations. He continues to captivate audiences worldwide, not just with his artistic talent but also with the fleeting nature of his creations.
This recent animal-themed collection is yet another example of his unique ability to engage and surprise the public through street art.
