Visit: Hayward Gallery Library and Archive and Saison Poetry Library

Hayward Gallery Library and Archive and Saison Poetry Library, London
Friday 13th December 2013, 2.30 - 4.30pm

The ARLIS Professional Development Committee has organised a combined visit to the Hayward Gallery Library and Archive and the Saison Poetry Library. The visit will include talks from staff from both libraries on their history, services, archives and special collections. The visit is free of charge.

The Saison Poetry Library is the most comprehensive and accessible collection of poetry from 1912 in Britain. It is the major library for modern and contemporary poetry and is funded by the Arts Council England.

The Hayward Gallery Library and Archive reflects the research needs of the exhibition curators and acquires contemporary material on artists, exhibitions, architecture, photography and critical theory. The emphasis is on modern and contemporary art (British and international).

The Poetry Library, where the visit will begin, is situated on Level 5 of the Royal Festival Hall, London SE1 8XX, close to Waterloo, Waterloo East and Embankment stations. For the second part of the visit, visitors will be escorted from the Poetry Library to the Hayward Gallery Library. Please note that as the Hayward Library is located in the working areas of the gallery, accessibility is not ideal. Anyone with mobility concerns should contact the organisers in advance.
