Workshop: ARLIS RDA implementation

Christie's Education, 153 Great Titchfield St, London W1W 5BD.
Friday 12th April 2013, 13.00-17.00

RDA is coming! National libraries such as the Library of Congress and British Library will be fully adopting RDA by March 31st 2013, so all other libraries need to consider how they will deal with changing to this new cataloguing standard. The ARLIS cataloguing and classification committee invite you to a half-day workshop which considers the practicalities of implementing RDA.

Alan Danskin (British Library) starts the workshop with an overview of how the British Library and other national libraries have implemented RDA. Next, Janet Ashton (British Library) and Deborah Lee (Courtauld Institute of Art) will outline the main issues and policy decisions that libraries need to make, highlighting those particularly important to small/medium libraries and/or art-related collections. Stuart Hunt (University of Warwick) will discuss the systems considerations needed to implement RDA. Deborah Lee (Courtauld Institute of Art) will then share her experiences of adopting RDA at the Courtauld, focussing on training. The workshop will provide plenty of opportunities to ask questions to the speakers and for discussion.
